Houseboat Experience

Be the Captain of your own floating accommodation and wake to the sounds of water gently lapping on the bank. Marvel at the unique chorus of the kookaburras, or be mesmerised by the pelicans gliding by. Cruise and discover another world and enjoy all the Murray has to offer.

The best part of a houseboat holiday is that you can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.

However, if you are after a few ideas, try these!

  1. First thing to do is set your watch to rivertime..where relaxation, morning and afternoon tea and sunset drinks are the only times you need to know!
  2. Check out the local wildlife and plants - use the binoculars on board and the bird book to reconnect with nature and discover many of the beautiful species of birds in our area. You may be lucky to sight a rare Regent Parrot or kangaroo's hopping by.
  3. Throw the shrimp net overboard and see what you can catch!
  4. Get your camera out - there are so many amazing things to photograph, including the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. Remember the best camera is the one you have with you - even if it is your phone!
  5. If it is winter, gather some kindling and have a small fire on the banks of the Murray - nothing beats the romance of watching the dancing flames.
  6. Hire one of our double kayaks and explore the many backwaters and tranquil lagoons on our part for the Murray.
  7. Bring your fishing rod along (or we can hire you one) and cast a line into the water off the back deck.
  8. Cook up a storm in the kitchen or on the BBQ and enjoy your own special dinner parties.
  9. Cruise into Morgan and discover the historic river front precinct, check out the museum or have a meal at a great old country pub.
  10. Travel to Caudo Vineyard and enjoy a brew or wine on the river. Just moor the houseboat and wander across to the cellar door where the Sangria is also a hit.
  11. Marvel at the majestic cliffs and tranquil lagoons.
  12. Think about the days gone by and the paddle wheelers that travelled this river.
  13. Pop a DVD on and have a movie afternoon or night.
  14. Get out a pack of cards and play a game from your childhood memories.
  15. Read or just rest and recharge - there really is nothing more relaxing than stretching out on a sun lounge and watching the world drift slowly by...

Miriam's News

October 2017:

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our website. We hope you enjoy having a look around.

After an unusually cold winter, we are excited that it is now spring time...with warmer weather, mild days and cool evenings that are perfect for relaxing under the twinkling stars....

The backwaters are brimming with life and there are so many birds around - it is such a joy to see. We can even hire you a double kayak so you can explore, discover and get to places you can't by foot! You will be amazed at the wetland birds you will encounter, and be dwarfed by the giant redgums standing like sentinels in the river (of course we also provide life vests for your safety. The river is a wonderful playground but you must always treat it with respect and take care at all times)

We give you plenty of tips and instruction on how to handle your houseboat during your show out lesson, and our instructors love pointing out their favourite mooring spots. You may even get told where the fish have been biting too!

If you need a relaxing break where you can reconnect with family and friends and experience a special part of South Australia's Riverland please get in touch - we'd love to welcome you on board one of our houseboats!

Cheers, Miriam

PS...We were absolutely delighted to be named the WINNER of Unique Accommodation at the 2016 South Australian Tourism Awards and have just received the news we are a FINALIST for this years awards which will be announced on November 10th at a Gala Event at the Convention Centre.
